Student leaders behind Defy the Odds.
Kevin Natanael Garcia
Founder • Grade 12
Kevin founded this group to try to change the course of many boys and girls and to show regardless of background, barriers, and fear of the unknown. It is never too late to become the best you and run after those dreams.
His biggest goal is to expand to various counties all over FL, keep our promise to every person we reach out to one day and not so long from today, expand world wide because why not?!
What he has learned from starting this is that its very stressful, but has learned to value every single little thing from the first meeting.
His favorite part of being a leader is knowing that this will make a difference to many kids out there and being hopeful to one day look back at this and be proud of one idea.
“I’m here for a reason.” — Whiplash
Bryan Aguilera
Co-Founder • Age 17 • Grade 12
Bryan joined the group because Kevin (founder) told him the idea and he liked it.
His biggest goal for this group is to make a big impact, seeing young students inspired to pursue their educational dreams.
His favorite part about being a leader is knowing that the team is in good hands.
What he has learned by being in this group is that everyone has once, defied the odds.
“To move forward means to be uncomfortable”
Alex Vazquez-Maradiaga
Director of Operations • Age 17 • Grade 12
Alex joined this group because Kevin and Bryan showed him a future where kids like him can be given help that was not given them and he wants to help Kevin and Bryan reach that goal so future generations can thrive and feel like they have an opportunity and options for their futures!
His goal for this year is to get as many scholarships as he can.
He loves to run and play volleyball.
“If you are ever feeling disheartened that you are somehow not enough, set your heart ablaze.” — Rengoku (Demon Slayer)
Suleima
Secretary • Age 18 • Grade 12
Suleima joined the group because she knows the struggle of being first gen. and not knowing where to start.
A fun fact about her is that her favorite season is fall.
Her goal for this year is to be more outgoing.
Sareena Moloy
Social Media Manager • Age 17 • Grade 12
I joined the club because Kevin showed me that it’s never too late to try to make a difference in your own life or someone else’s life.
I like to do things solo and I like to draw.
One goal I have for this upcoming year is to finish the year off really strong by doing everything this senior year.
“It’s whatever, living good doing better.” — Drake
